Medusa's Petrification

So we've a nice PnP setup we play during lunchtime with coworkers, and a question arose today about Medusa's Petrification.
Even if it isn't the most logical (but there're other weird things like line of sight or full zone), can you petrify someone 2 times, with 2 attacks on 2 different turns? It is not written that each target is limited to one petrify token, and it is clearly written that you remove 1 token with an activation+AoW cards.
However, petrifying an already petrified target?
After seeing Hera and Aphrodite, you might want to say you can only have 1 token of each type, but then Arachne gives you 2 web tokens or Andromeda gives 4 chains, for instance. Also, could you stack a petrify from Medusa, Perseus and Gorgon, since they're all differents units?

Bottom line, the idea was to lock Ares and prevent him to flee with a first activation to get rid of the petrify token, then moving away with his 2nd activation.

I would say that petrification is limited to one token just because it doesn't make a lot of sense to petrify a statue

And also because the way Petrification is limited : you have max 4 tokens and you WILL petrify your allies if they are in the same area as your enemies - so you cannot choose to put 2 tokens on an enemy as a way not to petrify an ally !

We indeed end up going for one token only, but again, it is not stated on the card.
Also, I said applying 2 tokens on 2 turns with 2 attacks (so 4 AoW), it is obvious you have to give out as much tokens as possible on the first attack, but the case was Ares and Medusa alone on one area.

I'd be curious to see if you could stack it with Perseus or Gorgon's one. What if you have a petrification token and a rapture one from Orpheus?
