Can you Guard against Area attacks?

So, if I have Zeus and 3 units of troops in an area and Hades activates his Inferno power, can I choose to have the troops Guard Zeus from the attack Inferno would make against him (assuming the troops have Guard, of course)?

Of course, Hades' player can choose the order of targets in an area attack and so can try to wipe out any troops with Guard by rolling the attacks against them first. But if they survive, can they throw themselves on the erupting fires to protect their god?

By the wording of Guard, I'm assuming they can. Just want to be sure.

If you have troops after attack against him, they can protect zeus in your example.

Just don't forget though that Troops lose their Guard talent when they're not complete.

@QW: if Ladon chooses to Guard against a range 0 area attack (which is considered melee), does the "Many Bites" power trigger:

- 1 free attack against the attacker or
- 1 free attack for each of the attacked units (area attacks are treated as X individual attacks), including himself, that he chooses to Guard?

Every time Ladon uses Guard to change the target of the attack from a friendly unit to himself, the power would trigger (assuming range 0).
