| Can anyone recommend some greek mythology books for myself and my son? We've read Percy Jackson series, D'Aulaires illustrated and George O'Connor's fantastic comic book treatment of the various Gods. I'd love some suggestions we can read together (he reads at a 6th grade level but is younger) and some more detailed recommendations for myself.
Thanks! | |

| I started out with Bulfinch's Mythology, which has been a classic reference for Greek and other mythologies. | |

| You should go the source and read the Theogony and Works & Days by Hesiod, and the Iliad and Odyssey by Homer, in that order | |

| You can also go Roman, I found the Aeneid by Virgil very interesting. In a more modern take on Troy, you can add the Firebrand by Marion Zimmer Bradley, it's nice.

| Santa Claus brought me the Usborne Illustrated Stories From The Greek Myths and the National Geographic Treasury of Greek Mythology.
Not exactly super highbrow reading but it's a nice start for someone whose previous experience of Greek mythology involved skeletons popping out of the ground and a Kraken being released.

| If you just like mythology in generall I would reomend the "Iron Druid Chronicles" There are various mythologies in it (Coltic, Norse, Roman, Greek, Hindu,....). but I think that there are only Roman gods that make an apearance. | |

| Glénat (a French editor also available in English and some other languages) started a new comics serie called "the wisdom of myths". This serie will include the 30 biggest Greek myths, from the 12 labours of Heracles to the travel of Odysseus and many more. First volume (Prometheus and the Pandora's Box) is available. They are more informations (unfortunately in French) on their website but I can't link it atm | |

| If you're interested in heroes (not gods), I am currently reading the Troy saga by David Gemmel and I find it excellent ! (I like very much this writer) I believe this was his last work unfortunately... | |

| Just found out that Stephen Fry has a 400 page book on Greek mythology coming out in November.
Getting a copy of that, then!
