 Questions about the 4 Chargers (Minotaur, Bull, Boar and Tityos)

PostSubject: Questions about the 4 Chargers (Minotaur, Bull, Boar and Tityos)   1st January 2017, 3:59 pm

There are four 3RP monsters with a 6 dice "charge" ability: Minotaur, Bull, Boar and Tityos.

7 7 0 1 8 Minotaur (4 activations) "Charge"
7 9 0 1 7 Bull (3 activations) "Conflagration"
7 8 0 1 8 Boar (4 activations) "Charge"
8 9 0 0 9 Tityos (3 activations) "Rock and Roll"

Questions:
1. Tityos: I wonder if his Earthquake ability also affects friendly units?

2. Tityos: I guess his R&R ability should read X - as his dashboard indicates 6 -  and not 8, as his normal attack?

3. "Charge" is a passive power, "Conflagration" is an Active Power and "Rock & Roll" is an alternative attack.
While they all do exactly the same. Is this the intention?

4. Is it intended that only the Bull's charge has a fixed 6 str attack - while the others' str is dependent on their vitality score?

5. Does the Boar's area attack have a name?

6. Am I understanding correctly that only the Boar can do 3 attacks?
Tityos (3AC): Charge = Alt Attack (1)/Regular attack (0) + Earthquake area attack (0).
Total = 1 attack + earthquake effect
Minotaur (4AC): Charge = Active Power (1) + Regular attack (0). Bloodthirst (0) works on all attacks of 5+ dice.
Total = 2 attacks with re-roll
Colchis Bull (3AC): Charge = Active Power (1) + Regular attack (0)/Devestating Fire (1) = Alt Attack (1).
Total = 2 attacks
Calydonian Boar (4AC): Charge = Passive Power (1) + Regular attack (0) + Unknown (0) area attack = Passive Power.
Total = 3 attacks

7. Why do some have 3, others have 4 activations?

1) Yes, unless a description specifically says friendly or enemy it means all units.

2) Correct. A melee attack with X dice.

3) They should all be special attacks.

4) Not sure. I'll check.

5) It does, though I can't remember what it was.

6) Given the answers above I think the calculations are different. I suspect the maximum is 2 attacks (though the charge can affect many units).

7) Balance. They aren't supposed to be identical.

Wow, that changes A LOT! Also taking the information in the Minotaur thread into consideration, all the dashboards will be significantly changed: the charge abilities will become "this will use up both your simple actions".
Furthermore Tityos will get a X attack and the Minotaur's ability will become "for every 5 you roll, you may re-roll another dice".

Tityos (3AC): Charge = Alt Attack (1)+ Earthquake area attack (0);
Minotaur (4AC): Charge = Alt Attack  (1) + for every 5 you may re-roll another dice;
Colchis Bull (3AC): Charge = Alt Attack (1) + Devestating Fire (1) 6 dice range 1 area attack;
Calydonian Boar (4AC): Charge = Alt Attack (1) + Unknown (0) 4 dice range 0 area attack.

Tityos is more of a very tough utility unit - no extra damage but a lot of survivability.
I think the Colchis Bull will be least popular because of the 1 AoW cost (and only 3AC).
Minotaur is a bit of a gamble; his Bloodthirst may not trigger at all - or a lot.
The Boar would potentially be "the best bang for your buck" with 4AC and a free area attack - but he requires good tactical maneuvering.

All 4 are optimal in slightly different circumstances, and best used in different ways. It's more subtle than the difference between any of them and, say, Cerberus, but it's definitely there.
